THE PSYCHOTIC MONKS

BIOGRAPHY

Since 2015, a common sensitivity has brought together the four members of The Psychotic Monks. These four energies (conservatory graduates or self-taught) blend together to produce psychedelic rock tinged with post-punk, art-noise or cold wave, both furious and fragile which takes you on a rite of passage through their dark and dreamlike universe. It’s sometimes like a shot of psychotropic stimulant, sometimes like a long descent, and always an indescribable and mystical experience, halfway between reality and the beyond.

Everyone writes, composes and sings. Guitars, synths, drums, trumpet, bass, voices… collide and cross the sound barrier. Composed of Paul Dussaux, Artie Dussaux, Martin Bejuy and Clément Caillierez, the group is an intimate, sensory and enjoyable experience we feel this deflagration long after.  A sonic chaos in which the musicians tame and shape the electricity in an uncompromisingly noisy sound climate. From noise to trance, from almost whisper to scream, The Psychotic Monks evolve in a space of freedom that is as thoughtful as it is uncontrollable and produces music that is as transcendent as it is visceral.

A vision born from the explosion of their emotions and their cinematographic influences such as David Lynch with “Twin Peaks”, Jerry Goldsmith and “Alien” or even David Cronenberg and “Videodrome”. Naturally, the group learned about music for the image and composed in 2022, its first soundtrack for Rodrigue Huart’s fantasy & horror short film “Transylvania” :

Following Artie singer and guitarist trans coming-out (she/them), the group which became an international cult has become always more politicized; their stage performances where revolt and fantasy mingle have become even more galvanizing. A supersonic mass in the form of a collective cathartic outlet and radical freedom.
