SYQLONE
BIOGRAPHY
Based in Paris, Syqlone is a producer, composer, and violinist who has established herself as the figurehead of Cyber-Chaâbi.
Initially trained in violin and orchestral arrangement at the conservatory for 12 years, she later pivoted to electronic music, driven by her cinema studies and a deep immersion in underground visual narratives. Her sound is a high-octane fusion where North African and Arab traditional heritage—derbouka, tabl, and Sufi-inspired melodies—collides with the raw, gritty energy of bass music, breakbeats, and deconstructed club.
Captivating both Arte Tracks and Tsugi Magazine, Syqlone’s music is built like a digital stadium. She meticulously rewrites Maghrebian samples into MIDI, layering them with hardware-driven percussions and futuristic synths reminiscent of Cyberpunk 2077 or 1950s film noir. This is stadium music for a new era: hypnotic, epic, and profoundly modern.
Beyond the dancefloor, her work is a political statement. Far from “orientalist” clichés, Syqlone uses her music as an inclusive manifesto. A prominent voice in the French electronic avant-garde, she blends her militant feminine perspective with social narratives, transforming her sets into subversive, hypnotizing raves where aesthetic and social identities converge.
Syqlone’s approach is defined by a constant search for narrative sound systems, where the creative process serves as a direct extension of the subject. In her cinematic work, she navigates between the urban oneirism of Les nuits de jasmin (Naël Zaiti-Ruelle), where city soundscapes meet melancholic melodies, and the radical minimalism of Martyre de Sainte Dymphne (Sarah Bordji). For this project, she notably utilized 430Hz dissonances and “ghost melodies” to translate the invisible and the taboo. This ability to capture social reality is also central to her work on the documentary À l’avant-poste, where she transformed raw protest field recordings into epic anthems celebrating collective resistance.
Her expertise extends naturally to the stage, where she treats sound as a living, breathing partner. Whether through poetic performances like Je me regarderai dans les yeux (Rim Battal) or contemporary dance shows such as Sycomore (Saphir El Belkheir), she builds her soundtracks in real-time. By deconstructing everyday sounds or family archives, she creates evolving textures that grow from granular, intimate details into liberating, hypnotic trances, ensuring that the music is never just a backdrop, but a visceral narrative force.
