Aurélie Mestres – Also known as Louise Roam – is a French composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and acclaimed sound designer whose singular body of work is defined by the precise intersection of technical mastery and profound poetic sensitivity. Trained in both classical tradition violin, and advanced sound research, Aurélie has cultivated a distinctive style that is both melodic and intensely textural, constantly fueled by her curiosity and meticulous research into the very nature and manipulation of sound.
Under her solo project, Louise Roam, Aurélie explores her most personal voice: a dreamlike electro-acoustic universe, defined by innovative combinations of vocals, prepared strings, and modular synthesizers. This more intimate work is marked by releases like the upcoming album Là où passe la nuit (2026). Her constant research into complex electronic tools (Max MSP / Reaktor) and her use of analog classics like the Moog and Prophet reinforces her capacity for musical innovation. This positions her as a composer who embraces both the warmth of acoustic instruments and the infinite, complex possibilities of the electronic palette.
Her compositions are instantly distinguished by their tailor-made sound craftsmanship and refined timbres, skills that have made her a trusted voice in disparate sectors: her work appeals equally to the nuanced demands of arthouse cinema and the exacting standards of luxury brands. Since composing the original score for Damien Odoul’s Le Reste du Monde (2012), Aurélie has consistently dedicated her talent to scoring feature films, short films, documentaries, and stage productions. Beyond the screen, she has established a major presence in high-end branding, designing unique sound identities and crafting original music for clients like Louis Vuitton and Clarins, demonstrating an exceptional ability to distill complex brand narratives into a singular musical signature.
Her extensive experience composing for theatre and dance has given her an unparalleled understanding of dramatic rhythm and visual storytelling—an art of nuance and listening where every sonic texture is deployed as a deliberate narrative gesture. This sensitivity allows her to treat the brief not merely as a technical specification, but as a conversation with the image. Furthermore, her expertise has been lent to major audio projects, including the creation of the sound design for Tsugi Radio and composing the theme music for Les Carnets de la Création on France Culture for five years (2016–2021).
Aurélie approaches each project as a distinct creative challenge, whether she is crafting an anthemic score or designing granular sound textures. This impressive versatility—from sophisticated, bespoke scoring and detailed sound design, to producing and arranging tracks for contemporary artists like Kid Francescoli—establishes Aurélie Mestres as one of the most exciting and uniquely qualified figures in contemporary French music for the screen, guaranteeing compositions that are emotionally resonant and technically flawless.
